Motion of Thanks on Guv’s Address: Legislator demands dialogue with stakeholders

Jammu: Several Members on Wednesday participated in discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governors Address in the Legislative Assembly and one of them, MLA Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, called for initiating dialogue with all stakeholders to resolve the Kashmir problem besides involving youth in the peace process.
He also asked the government to take all possible steps to restore peace in Kashmir valley.
He urged the Government to create an atmosphere where sustained peace talks are initiated as per the coalition government’s Agenda of Alliance. He welcomed the steps taken by the government to withdraw cases against youth in stone pelting cases and they are provided opportunity to live a dignified life.
Yaseen also asked for taking all required measures before going for Local Bodies elections in the state. He also raised the demand of providing adequate compensation to people whose land has to be acquired for construction of Ring Road in Budgam area.
Initiating the debate, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat complemented the Government for undertaking various measures for need based and holistic development of the State. He particularly hailed the government for improving Power Development sector in the State and added that there is a need to take more steps to improve the power infrastructure.
He said during the last three years of the present Government various initiatives have been taken for growth of agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors. He welcomed promotion of high-density fruit plants under horticulture sector.
He also appreciated the Centre Government’s role for appointing Interlocutor to talk various stakeholders to restore peace in the region.
Daleep Parihar, while taking part in discussion, appreciated the present coalition government for bringing revolutionary change in power, education, PHE, horticulture sector and improving irrigation, introduction of PM Fasal Bima Yojna and other schemes. He hoped that the present government would meet the commitment of providing adequate drinking water and uninterrupted power supply to each and every habitation of the State by 2032.
He criticized the previous government for not taking steps for regularization of casual, daily rated and other works and congratulated the present Government for meeting this long pending demand. “Issuance of SRO for regularization of 65000 casual workers and other categories has fulfilled the long pending demand of this large section of the society”.
Choudhary Qamar Hussain lauded various successful initiatives of the present Government and said that the land has been identified for the establishment of Additional District Judicial Court in district Rajouri and demanded for early commencement of construction work on the building. He also demanded for releasing funds for construction of Tunnel on Mughal Road.
Highlighting the contribution of former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Syed for establishing Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Qamar said it was a historic decision that has changed the destiny of people in Pir Panchal region. He demanded that all the Degree Colleges of the district be affiliated to BGSBU.
Sat Paul Sharma lauded the Government for successfully launching various development and welfare schemes across the State adding that construction of National Highway, Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, macadamization of roads and other ongoing projects bears testimony to the fact that massive development activities are going on in the state. He also lauded Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for taking keen interest in the development of J&K.
He appreciated the government for introducing helicopter services to snow bound and cut off areas like Gurez, Kishtwar, Doda and other hilly areas. He said that the developmental schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 1600 crore have been taken by the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in the state, particularly a project costing Rs 72 crore in his home constituency.
Taking part in the discussion, Bashir Ahmad Dar urged the government to work towards overall development of the state as highlighted in the Governor’s address. He demanded concerted efforts by the institution of public representatives so that the law and order situation can be normalized. Besides, he asked for laying special focus on development of education sector, power, connectivity etc.
He congratulated the government for regularization of 65000 causal, contractual and other workers. He also welcomed the decision of central government for appointing an interlocutor to pave way for dialogue with all stakeholders in the state. He termed peace as imperative for development and appealed the people to actively participate in the dialogue process.
MLA Poonch Haveli, Shah Mohammad Tantray congratulated the government for its initiatives to create conducive environment for peace in the state. He also welcomed the appointment of Interlocutor by the centre.
He lauded the role of former CM, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for initiating development process of Pir Panchal region, especially far off, rural areas and thanked the present dispensation for continuing the process.
He demanded Degree College for Mandi, Poonch so that the students can pursue higher education without having to travel long distances or moving out to other cities. He also asked for a Cable Car project for Tosa Maidan for tourism development in the area. Tantray congratulated the government for regularization of causal workers and demanded regularization of Gardeners cum Chowkidars working in Panchayat Ghars under the same policy.
