Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Wednesday said government forces deployed in Kashmir seems to be on a mission to commit the “planned genocide of Kashmiris without any gender difference.”
In a statement, a spokesman of the amalgam expressed deep concern over the killing of three innocent civilians including two women—Misra Bano of Handwara, Ruby alias Beauty Jan of Shopian – in just a week.
Paying rich tributes to the two armed youth killed in an encounter with forces at Batmuran village of Shopian district of South Kashmir, he said that young boys of Kashmir were “spilling their blood to pull out Kashmiri nation from the shackles of worst form of oppression and that the leadership is committed to take the mission of martyr’s to its logical goal.”
He strongly denounced the use of indiscriminate force that include live bullets and deadly pellets on the peaceful protestors at Shopian which resulted in the on spot death of a lactating mother and injuries to more than 50 people majority of them with serious bullet and pellet wounds.
He said that the “mayhem” witnessed at Batmuran was yet another example of an “open aggression by government forces.”
He said the “freedom sentiment runs deep in every heart of Kashmiri, and every bid to crush this on the basis of military might, like in past, was destined to fail.”
The spokesman urged UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human, and International Red Cross to take serious note of “ongoing killing spree of innocent civilians and unabated human rights violations in every nook and corner of Jammu and Kashmir.”
“They should use their influence to make Government of India change current policy of ruthlessness and repression on the people of Kashmir and respect their Human Rights.”
Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the house detention of amalgam’s chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Nigeen and termed the continuous house arrest of aged resistance leader including Syed Ali Shah Geelani as a serious violation of human rights.
He also criticized the government for imposing strict curbs in downtown Srinagar and conducting nocturnal raids in Tral area of Pulwama district.
