Pulwama: Hospital equipment at Sub district hospital Tral, is either defunct or not being used by officials forcing patients to get the tests done at private clinics and Block Medical Officer says ‘get permission from my boss before speaking to me’.
Residents told INS that Analyser at SDH is damaged leaving it defunct while as ‘USG machine is of an old technology and often remains out of use’.
Locals complained that ‘nobody in the hospital bothers to use X-ray machine.’
“They always put up an excuse that electricity is not available, due to which patients do X-rays and other medical tests mostly outside on private clinics,” locals said.
Locals also alleged that after ‘4pm’ doctors at the SDH leave for home leaving the whole population at the mercy of God.
“The SDH caters to nearly 2 lac population of Tral and the vicinity areas are additional who believe that the SDH will help them in emergency situation. But some time there is one doctor available, at times two and on some days there is none to look after patients,” locals claimed.
Locals says that despite having a generator in the hospital, ‘authorities seems reluctant to use it,” they said.
To confirm the allegations of the locals INS asked Block Medical Officer, Tral, Gobinder Singh Mehta as to why are locals aghast and allege ‘mal function’ and ‘non professional working’ at SDH Tral.
Mehta, however, refused to share any information and reply, to the contrary asked to contact Director Health Services and get permission from him.
“Then we can talk,” Mehta said.
