Sopore : In order to boost and upgrade the livelihood of fishermen, Department of Fisheries, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday distributed 65 bicycles among the registered fishermen of different areas of constituency.

On the occasion, the Member of Legislative assembly Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Additional Deputy commissioner Sopore, Khursheed Ahmad Shah  and Assistant Director Fisheries Abdul Ahad Mir distributed bicycles among the 65 beneficiaries under the centrally sponsored scheme”Blue Revolution.”

Speaking on this occasion, Assistant Director Fisheries Abdul Ahad Mir said all the registered fishermen will be covered under the scheme. He said the bicycles would help the fishermen in marketing which in turn would boost their trade, Economy  and to improve their livelihood.

He said that the department is providing monetary help for the construction of their houses to the fishermen, auto loan and other schemes for the overall welfare of the fisherman.
