Kupwara: In a swift action against the accused behind murder case, an army porter in Handwara tehsil of Kupwara district was arrested on the charges of allegedly killing his wife around ten months after their marriage.

Police sources said that Sajad Ahmad Khan, 26, resident of Puthwari village killed his wife, in a fit of rage after an argument took place between the two over some domestic issue, a few days before.

In this regard Sajad Ahmad was picked up by Handwara police on suspicious bases for investigation into the matter.

“After a proper investigation regarding the case it was revealed that Sajad Ahmad had killed his wife by holding her neck and smashed her repeatedly causing her death,” a top police official told INS.

Handwara police has arrested the accused and FIR No 72/2017 U/S 302 PRC has been registered in this regard and investigation has taken up.

However, police has also wrote to DDC Kupwara for exhumation of the body and investigation would be concluded on merit in minimum possible time, a top official said.
