Srinagar: Authorities on Friday closed  80km long Bandipora-Gurez road here in this north Kashmirs Bandipora district.
An official said due to heavy snowfall on Razdhan top the vehicular traffic has been closed from both sides in view of slippery and accident prone road.
Gurez, a picturesque valley  is located along LoC and remains cutoff from rest of Kashmir during winter months due to heavy snowfall. It is one of the many strategic areas of Kashmir — in terms of defence as well as energy security — as work is in progress on theKishenganga Hydro Electric Projectthere.
The Kashmir’s upper reaches have recently received moderate to heavy snowfall and the roads have become slippery which is prone to accidents. The 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh Highway, historic Mughal rods were closed for both ways. (INS)
