Residents of Watergam area in North Kashmir’s Baramulla District complained that the power cuts are so long that they have already shifted to candles and other means of light and cooking.

“Examinations are being conducted and electricity is no where. Our children are preparing for examinations under candle lights,” locals told INS.

The inhabitants of the village said that the electricity is playing hide and seek from the past one week, ‘despite chilly weather conditions in the valley, officials seem playing with peoples misery’.

“We do not receive proper power supply as per schedule and frequent power cuts have become a daily affair now Fayaz Ahmed, resident of Watergam alleged.

Irked, angry residents locked down the power house at Watergam to mark the protest and demanded that the electricity supply be provided as per schedule and ‘authorities stop playing cruel joke with their lives by pushing them to live in dark’.
