Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday strongly condemned raiding of the house of Jehad Council Chief Syed Salahudin and summoning his grandson, Muzamil Ahmad Khan to Delhi by the NIA.
In a statement issued here, the octogenarian leader said that it was imprudent on part of authorities to harass and scare the resistance leadership from representing the people’s sentiments and their just political struggle.
He termed the summoning and raid of UJC chief’s residence as an act of political vendetta. Geelani Geelani said that Muzamil Ahmad Khan is a student and such coercive actions are aimed to tarnish his educational carrier.
“These arbitrary actions won’t break his resolve,” said Geelani, adding that his family was being victimized for his dedication and commitment with ongoing freedom movement.
Strongly denouncing authorities for filing charge sheet against noted and prominent religious scholar, Dr Zakir Naik, Geelani said that he always pleaded for mutual harmony and brotherhood between different communities and never propagated hatred, instead remained instrumental for promoting education and conveyed the peace message of Islam.
The allegations levelled against Dr Zakir Naik are bundle of lies and he is simply being implicated for preaching true message of Islam,” Geelani said. Authorities, he said, are misleading their people and hence levelling fake and fabricated charges against the prominent scholar and educationist like Zakir Naik, added Geelani.
