Ganderbal: Up in flames for five days, the fire that had engulfed Gund forests, has been brought under control as locals too stepped in to help officials on Monday.

The fire had emerged in compartment no. 65G of Sindh range Kangan in sindh forest division ganderbal and had been blazing from last five days.

Range officer, Sindh, Muneer Ahmad told INS that fire was caused due to dry weather conditions prevalent in the valley.

“Fire Incidents occur in the forest regions due to dry weather,” he said.
The raging fire was controlled after  locals stepped in firefight.

“We control the fire after five days, with a joint effort by locals and forest employees. Two casual employees of forest division were injured in the firefight,” he said.
