Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday expressed concern over the growing incidents of braid chopping in several parts of Kashmir Valley, particularly in south Kashmir, and demanded those behind “immoral and criminal activities” should be exposed before public.
A spokesman of the amalgam said that such “inhuman and degraded acts” are done to create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the women in Kashmir.
“It is unfortunate that authorities who are ever ready to put youth raising voice for the just cause behind the bars have miserably failed to nab the culprits involved in braid chopping.”
While condemning the NIA notices to the students in Kashmir, the spokesman said NIA is being used against the innocent students for expressing their political aspirations and a deliberate attempt to draw affect on educational carrier of these students. He said such tactics can’t suppress the people of Kashmir to fight for their “birth right.”
The Hurriyat Conference also strongly condemned the re-arrest of Jamat-e-Islami leader Advocate Zahid Ali and termed it as “political vendetta” by the authorities.
