While condemning the summoning of High Court Bar Association Chief  Advocate Mian Qayoom by the NIA to New Delhi, they demanded immediate release of Dukhtarani Millat (DeM) chairperson Asiya Andrabi and other separatist leaders.

Soon after the Friday prayers culminated at the central mosque in Gaw Kadal scores of protesters assembled outside the mosque and started raising pro freedom and anti NIA slogans.

Addressing the gathering General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Shiekh Abdul Rashid said that they are protesting against the continuous detention of DeM chief Asiya Andrabi who has been slapped with a second PSA despite her illness. He also condemned the atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmmar.

He also demanded the immediate release of Shabir Ahmad Shah, Shahid-ul- Islam, Farooq ahmad dar and other separatist leaders who he said were persecuted in Delhi’s Tihar Jail where they are lodged for the past few months.

“Yesterday two millitants were martyred in Srinagar despite the fact that they were unarmed and could easily have been arrested. After they were martyred their dead bodies were desecrated by the army which is against the military code of conduct,” Shiekh said.

The protestors later dispersed off peacefully.
