Srinagar: Day after two Lashkar e Taiba militants including top commander Abu Ismael, funeral prayers in absentia were offered by people in Pampore town on Friday.

The duo were killed in a brief shootout with government forces in Nowgam area of Srinagar city on Thursday evening.

The gunfight was called ‘crisp operation’ by the officials who conducted the operation.

LeT Commander Abu Ismail and his aide Abu Qasim were killed in Aribagh area of Nowgam in Srinagar.

Restrictions were imposed in parts of the Srinagar city and Friday prayers were not allowed in the historic Jamia Masjid by the district authorities in wake of the killing of LeT militants.

Reports said that hundreds of people offered funeral prayers in absentia for the slain militants at Khanqah-e-Moalla Pampore after the Friday prayers culminated.
