Sopore: One militant was killed and two houses were raised to ground in the encounter between militants and government forces on Saturday in Lowpora Rebben, Sopore of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The militant has been identified as HM District Commander Shahid Ahmed Shiekh resident of Kacxhloo, Qaziabad.

According to sources, Shahid was part of the militant group which was zeroed in Brath area couple of days back. He had managed to give slip to government forces in that encounter. Two militants were killed in the encounter at Brath.

“He had received injuries in that encounter but today we got him,” sources in police told INS.

Two houses were raised to ground in the encounter that began in the wee hours of Saturday after Government forces launched Cordon and Search Operation in the area.

Massive clashes have erupted in the area after killing of the militant.
