Srinagar: Policy planning group of the Congress led by former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is arriving in Jammu for a discussion on current situation in the state with party workers and “like-minded” groups.
The group also includes former Union ministers P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni, will also meet senior party leaders, including MLAs and MLCs, a leader of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) said.
Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Karan Singh is also expected to be the part of the delegation which would meeting representatives of various opposition parties, including the National Conference, the CPI(M) and the Akali Dal.
Congress state president G A Mir said Manmohan Singh and other members visit aims at getting inputs from the grassroots workers. “The current issues that the state is facing will also be discussed,” he said.
Mir said the Singh-led team would also meet “like-minded opposition groups” in the state and would also visit Ladakh region at a later date.
