Srinagar: A meeting of Senior functionaries’ and leaders including Legislators of Congress Party was held here today, in which AICC General Secretary Ambika Soni was the Chief Guest, while the meeting was presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Mr. G.A. Mir.
The meeting was attended by prominent leaders and functionaries of PCC and all Legislators in which Smt. Ambika Soni reviewed the overall organizational affairs and activities of the Party besides taking stock of the current situation in the State.
The prominent leaders and Legislators apprised the General Secretary AICC about the ongoing activities of the organization in three regions of the State and also discussed the current political scenario and overall situation prevailing in the State.
PCC President Mr. G.A. Mir briefed the General Secretary about the Party affairs and the activities including the progress on Membership Drive in all three regions of the State and conveyed the appreciable response and interest of the Party leaders and workers and people in most parts of the State.
The meeting also expressed concern over the deteriorated situation in the Kashmir valley and the total failure of the State and the Centre Govt during the past two and half years to restore normalcy. The State Govt has utterly failed on all fronts and the policies of the present dispensations have further worsened the situation at the grass root level and the people are facing great hardships in view of the prevailing situation.
The meeting was apprised that State Govt is unable to reach out to the people at the grass root level to address the basic necessities and redress the grievances of the people and there is no governance worth the name. The State and Centre Govt continued to maintain their insensitive approach towards the grievances of the common people who are facing the brunt of the situation.
The meeting was also apprised about the approach of the PDP BJP Government towards the issue of implementation of GST in the state and said the chaos, confusion and delay in the implementation of the GST in the state was due to the confusion and contradiction amongst the coalition partners regarding the mode of its implementation . Now both the Coalition Partners with contradictory stand on the issue of Article 370 are now claiming vindication of their stands, which is self-contradictory and an attempt to mislead their respective constituencies. It showed the opportunist and exploitative politics of alliance partners to continue to share power by misleading the people.
The meeting strongly criticized the State and Centre Government for their total failure to handle the situation which continues to be grim and sympathized with the common people who are the worst victims of the current situation. Expressing grave concern over the loss of innocent lives, the meeting appealed to the people especially the youth to shun the path of violence and help restore peace and normalcy. (CNS)
