Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) district president Ganderbal, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) was again booked under black law PSA and shifted to Kotbalwal Jail Jammu today, spokesman said.
According to a statement issued to KNS, JKLF spokesman said that Police has also raided the residences of JKLF leaders including Master Sheikh Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Yasin Butt and Zahoor Ahmad Butt in Trehgam Kupwara and Naseembagh Srinagar last night and harassed their families.
“Incarcerated JKLF district president Ganderbal, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) has been slapped with another PSA and shifted to Kotbalwal jail Jammu yesterday. He was arrested on 27th September 2016 and booked under PSA. His PSA was quashed by high court in May 2017 and from 23rd May 2017 he was languishing in police station Ganderbal. His family yesterday evening went to provide food to him at the said police station where police told them that he has been shifted to some other place,” spokesman said.
He said that on repeated pleas of the family, police denied to provide them clear information of his lodgement, which worried his family.
“Today after a tedious investigation into the matter the family came to know that he has been booked with another PSA and shifted to Kotbalwal jail,” he said.
Meanwhile, terming this ‘callous attitude’ of Ganderbal police as ‘most condemnable’, JKLF incarcerated chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik said that “police after torturing Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) for almost two months in Ganderbal police station have slapped him with another PSA and shifted him to Jammu that too without informing his family, which actually shows the cold-hearted approach of this force.”
Malik said that “police were asking Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya) to seek help of some local PDP people to get free, which actually confirms that police is actually working at the behest of its political masters.”
“If police wants to prove that it is more loyal than the king, they should remove its police uniform and replace it with RSS or PDP robes,” he said.
While condemning the slapping of PSA and prolonging incarceration of Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), JKLF incarcerated chairman praised his determination and passion.
While condemning the nocturnal raids by police on JKLF leaders, Malik said that police besides raiding these leaders has harassed their families.
“Police late last night raided the residence of JKLF leader Muhammad Yasin Butt and barged into his residences forcefully. Yasin Butt and his family were not present at their residence and police even terrorized his neighbors even,” the statement added.
Similarly, “Police raided and intimidated the families of JKLF leaders Zahoor Ahmad Butt and Master Muhammad Afzal at Trehgam Kupwara.”
While terming these raids as ‘clear sign of frustration of the rulers and occupational authorities’, JKLF chairman said that “choking every little space on peaceful political activities and terrorizing peaceful political leaders and activists can only be termed as most undemocratic and act of state sponsored terrorism.” (KNS)
