SRINAGAR: Daily commuters in the Valley are feeling it easier to travel by train ever since more halt points were set up on Baramulla-Banihal track recently. The setting up of these halt points has eased movement of daily passengers by giving them timely access to stations and halt points.
It may be mentioned here that the Ministry of Railways recently ordered setting up of four more halt points on the rail line. These are at Razwan (Sanoor Kalipora) between Budgam and Mazhome railway stations, Naidgam between Budgam and Mazhome railway stations, Ratnipora(Pulwama) between Kakapora and Awantipora stations and Sangdan(Kulgam) between Qazigund and Sadura railway stations.
The people of these areas had represented with the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for setting up of these halt points for their facilitation.
Mehbooba Mufti took up the issue with Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu through various communications and even met him to press for setting up of these halt points for the convenience of passengers, students and employees.
Baramulla-Banihal rail link has emerged as an alternative and convenient mode of transportation among the commuters and it has cut the commuting time by a considerable measure.
Meanwhile, a deputation of people from Pulwama led local MLA today met the Chief Minister and demanded setting up of a halt station at Naina-Batapora on Baramulla-Banihal railway line for the convenience of the commuters.
The Chief Minister assured the deputation that she would take up the demand with Railway Minister for appropriate action.
