Srinagar: The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Sunday paid tributes to Aasiya and Neelofar on their 8th anniversary and the said the honourable and dignified nations never tolerate the disrespect or attack on chastity of their daughters and sisters.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah while terming the heart-wrenching Shopian incident as “national tragedy” said the attack on the honour and dignity is intolerable.
Shah hailed the people of Kashmir for strongly protesting against the dastardly act and demanding punishment for the rapists involved.
Lashing out at the then rulers of the state, Shah said they did everything to protect the culprits involved in the shameful act.
Criticising Mehbooba Mufti for shedding crocodile tears over the incident and expressing fake sympathy with the victims’ families as an Opposition leader, Shah said after coming to power, she (Mehbooba) has maintained a complete silence on the incident and proved that she is just another servant of New Delhi.
Connecting Aasiya-Neelofar double rape with Tabinda Gani, Kunan Poshpora, and other similar tragedies, Shah appealed people and Azadi leadership to observe May 30 as ‘Women’s Security Day’ in memory of Aasiya and Neelofar. “Till we live under Indian occupation, such shameful and dastardly incidents are bound to happen,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah has expressed deep grief over the accidental death of a 6-year-old daughter of People’s Freedom League general secretary Mohammad Ramzan Khan. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Expressing condolence with the bereaved family, Shah prayed for their forbearance.
On Shah’s directions, a delegation led by Aashiq Hussain visited the residence of Mohammad Ramzan Khan and expressed condolence and solidarity with him and the bereaved family. (KNS)
