Srinagar: The two food testing laborites in Jammu province and in Kashmir will be upgraded to international standard, Commissioner Food Safety Jammu and Kashmir Department, Kabir Dar said on Thursday.
Dar took charge a day earlier and claimed that they will be adding mobile food testing vans to the department that will be a ‘shot in arm of the department.’
Kabir Dar on Wednesday joined as the First Commissioner of Department of Food Safety Jammu and Kashmir.
Dar earlier served as Secretary (Technical) Health and Medical Education Department and Director Indian System of Medicine (ISM).
Dar also confided that the department will be issuing an advisory about the ‘open masalas in the market’.
“Sale of open masala is totally illegal, and violation of rules,” Dar said.
Dar urged general public to support the department in its endeavor.
The synthetic colors used in the ice creams, artificial food ripening procedures are the root cause of the ailments, “There are various issues related to food,” Dar told INS.
“The first and primary thing is that the food should be of best quality, so that our society is in good health,” he said.
According to Dar they will be launching a campaign to create awareness among ‘children’s, mothers and the persons related to this industry about the food safety and safety act 2006’.
