SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today asserted that Government is developing Shikargah in Tral to give tourism in the area a big boost.
Interacting with a deputation from Tral which met her here today, the Chief Minister said the area is being connected to world famous destination Pahalgam through a trekking route and a road to make it a part of a bigger tourist circuit which would ultimately give boost to the local economy.
The Chief Minister said road network in the area is being improved and upgraded with widening and macadamisation. She said Nawdal-Tral road is being widened to enhance connectivity with neighboring areas.
On the demand of the deputation, Mehbooba Mufti directed upgradation of local health centre to the level of a well-equipped hospital so that the people of the area don’t have to travel distances in case of emergencies and also the huge hilly area in the vicinity is also catered to.
The Chief Minister regretted that Tral has remained far away from the developmental road map of the successive Governments in the State over the last many decades. She said her Government is sensitive to the needs and difficulties of the people of the area and appropriate steps are being taken to put Tral on the developmental plane of the State.
The deputation sought setting up of a skill development institute to impart technical education to the youth of the area at their doorstep.
