SRINAGAR, MAY 20: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting to review disaster management preparedness for Shri Amarnath Yatra with Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal, who are the Yatra Officers for the management of the Shri Amarnath Yatra.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, SSP Ganderbal, Director Disaster Management, Commandant SDRF and Incharge NDRF, besides Deputy Director (Planning) with Div Com, Assistant Commissioner Central and Dy. SP (HQ) Srinagar.
It was informed that 122 SDRF personnel and 172 NDRF personnel will be deployed for Yatra duty, in addition to over 100 volunteers of Home Guards and an equal number of Civil Defence Volunteers.
Divisional Commissioner gave directions for ensuring smooth and incident free management of Yatra and to take all necessary mitigation measures. It was decided that mock drill shall be held to test the preparedness, before the start of the Yatra at Baltal and Pahalgam. It was also decided that qualified Disaster Management Professionals would be deployed in the Districts for assisting the Deputy Commissioners in effective management of Yatra and disasters.
