Srinagar September 16th: Aim of organising sports activities is to wean the youth of valley from militancy and anti-social activities, Additional Director General of J&K Police(ADGP) armed L Mohanti said on Saturday.

 

Mohanti was addressing a presser at Nehru Park in connection with the three day water sports festival “Jashn-e-Dal” to be held from 18th-20th September organized by the J&K police.

“Events like these generate tremendous interest among the youth, which in turn help channelizing the young minds in a positive direction,” Mohanti said.

 

Police said Shikara Race, Swimming, Dragon boat race, Canoe Polo, Kayaking, Canoeing, Water Polo and Water Ski would be held and cash prizes worth 3.05 lakhs would be distributed among the winners.

 

The event was attended by IG Armed Afhadul Mujtaba, DIG Central Kashmir Ghulam Hassan Bhat and Commandant 9th batallion J&K armed police Shailendra Singh.
