In a pre dawn attack by militants one policeman has been killed and six others injured after they stormed into District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

The injured include two personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police and three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men.

Inspector General of Police Muneer Khan confirmed that one Policeman has been killed while the operation to flush out militants is underway.

Police Officials told INS that around 3:45 am militants stormed into DPL by lobbing grenades and opening indiscriminate fire.

“Firing is going on and two militants are believed to be inside the DPL,” official said. The area has been sealed.

All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where from they were referred to Srinagar in critical condition.

Sources said the militants are holed up in ‘E-block’ of DPL.

Some of the injured, according to sources, have been identified as:

CT Mohd Yaqood Jora, Belt no. 566/Pl, Right leg bullet injury.

Pummy Kumar, crpf/182bn, Belt no 055073177, Left arm Bullet injury.

Prabhu Narayan, Crpf/182 bn, Left thigh Bullet injury

S B Raj Sudhakar, Crpf/182 bn, Bullet injury in Chest, both legs and left arm, Belt no 135031703.
