BASHARAT RASHID
Pulwama: Inhabitants of Panzoo and New Colony Check-Satoora villages in Tral sub division of South Kashmir have been facing acute shortage of potable water supply from last more than a week.
The aggrieved residents told INS that in absence of clean water in Mokdam Mohalla of Panzoo and New Colony in Check Satoora, they have been forced to fetch “contaminated” water from nearby streams or wells.
A delegation of residents in Panzoo village said that they have been waiting for the redressal of water crisis in their respective villages, for last few days, but ‘officials concerned have turned blind eye towards the matter.’
“We are facing inconveniences here in absence of potable water. Concerned authorities have failed to resolve our issues, which add to our woes,” a local in Panzoo said.
Similarly, the residents in Check Satoora area of Aripal tehsil in Tral have said that they are facing hardships in absence of water supply there for last six days.
They said that their problems increase with each passing day and ‘officials at the helm of affairs are showing no concern’ in restoring the water supply.
The residents of both the villages have demanded that authorities should ensure restoration of potable water supply as soon as possible. Despite several attempts officials of PHE (Jal Shakti) department couldn’t be contacted.
