Srinagar: Two militants and a CRPF personnel were been killed in a gunfight in Bandzoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Bandzoo amid specific inputs about the presence of themilitants.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, two unidentified militants and a CRPF personnel were killed, police said.
“Two unidentified militants were killed. Searches are going on. Further details shall follow,” police said in a tweet. Meanwhile IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar paid tributes the CRPF man who killed in the encounter.
Meanwhile, there was an exchange of fire between militants and the joint team of army, CRPF and police in forests of Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.
According to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 28RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Lolab forests.
A senior police officer said after initial fire, there was a lull. “It’s a deep forest. More reinforcements have been rushed to the forest,” the officer added.
