Srinagar, June 11: Enforcement wing of Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Ganderbal inspected various markets across the central Kashmir district.
Officials said that poultry and mutton rates, which have seen “artificial rise recently”, were the focus of the inspections.
“In addition, maintaining hygiene and physical distance was strongly ensured,” an official of the department said.
Fines were collected from erring shopkeepers and adherence to sale/distribution protocol under Covid response framework was enjoined upon all, the official said. “Rotten and unhygienic food items were destroyed on the spot,” the official said, adding, “Such measures from the administration are driven by fact that these will deter antisocial elements from exploiting the situation.”
