Srinagar: Governor NN Vohra on Wednesday expressed deep concern over recurring road accidents in the state even as he expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives in road mishap at Mahore area of Reasi district. Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti also expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in mishap.
In a message, the Governor prayed for peace to the departed souls and wished the bereaved families the strength to bear the sad loss. He also wished speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.
“The Governor has expressed deep concern over recurring road accidents and re-iterated that every concerned agency should be held accountable for strictly enforcing regulations regarding the age and worthiness of the passenger carrying vehicles, condemnation of unfit vehicles, overloading, over-speeding, fitness and past record of drivers to ply passenger vehicles on notified hill roads, and punitive summary fines to be paid by the offenders,” an official spokesman said. He said that no unqualified, unlicensed person should be allowed to drive any personal, transport or commercial vehicle.
Meanwhile, Mehbboba Mufti expressed shock and grief over the loss of lives in the accident. She passed directions  for airlifting of severely injured passengers to Jammu for specialized treatment.
