Kupwara: The health care system in rural areas seems to be unnerved over public plight and officials don’t look like ever bothered by the non availability of basic critical care situations.
An accident victim on Thursday was shifted to District Hospital Handwara from Sogam Health Centre to undergo CT scan.
After waiting for hours the victim was informed that the CT Section is without electricity and is not connected to generator as well.
The patient had to leave from the hospital without being examined.
Relatives of the patient, Mansoor Ahmed who had met with an accident in Krusan area of Sogam, said that they were asked to submit the required fees and wait in the queue despite the patient being under trauma.
“Accident victims are treated on emergency bases and tests are done on priority as they need to fast treatment. But we waited only to be told that the section is without electricty,” they claimed.
The hospital did refund the Mansoor’s fees.
They also complained that health department very well knows that CT Scan is only done in Hospital in the region with no private clinic.
“It’s height of callousness, that CT section, an important section is without electricty and non seems to be bothered about the patients.
Deputy superintendent District Hospital Handwara Dr Aijaz Ahmad,  said, “Call power department and ask them to resume  electricity only after that patient can be attended.”
