Shopian: Employees of the education department in Zone Shopian are suffering as the department is not appointing any Zonal Educational Officer for the area since past two months.

A delegation of employees told INS that they cannot avail their salaries as there is no ZEO to clear their bills.

“Cases of GP funds and other bills are all pending due to callous approach of the department,” they accused.

An aggrieved employee of the department said that he had applied for GP fund two months back but since no one is appointed at the vacant places cases are lying unattended.

“Next month, my two daughters are to be married and i applied for GP fund. Its irritating how careless officials have become. They know how important these GP fund cases are as employees draw them in times of dire need,” he claimed.

When INS tried to contact the Chief Education Officer, it was informed that the officer is ‘out of station’.
