Anantnag: At least 70 people of Kamad village in south Kashmir Anantnag district were taken ill after drinking contaminated water, sources said.
Most of the patients suffered diarrhea and vomiting and were treated in District hospital Anantnag, sub center and locally.
Talking to INS, a local resident said that the people were taken ill from last five days and complained of diarrhea and vomiting and were rushed to district hospital Anantnag and nearby health centres besides local chemist shops. Residents held PHE Department responsible for it, alleging that they are being provided contaminated water.
“Consumption of contaminated water is responsible for the diseases in the village. We have treated and received at least 10 patients at sub center Kamad and their condition is stable now,” said CMO Anantnag Mukhtar Ahmad. “As of now, I don’t exactly know about the number of patients being treated or treated at Anantnag hospital.” He said that a team of doctors and other members will be send to village tomorrow to collect samples of water. Attempts to contact PHE official did not fructify.
