Srinagar: After a lull for around 24 hours, India and Pakistan armies traded fresh fire along Akhnoor border in Jammu division, officials said on Monday.

“On March 4 at about 0300 hours, Pakistan initiated unprovoked cease fire violation by shelling with mortars and firing  of small arms in Akhnoor Sector,” a defence ministry official said, adding, “Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively.” The official said that firing and shelling stopped at 0630 hours.
