Srinagar: Stranded traffic has been allowed to move towards Srinagar on the strategic highway after landslides in Ramban district last night closed the thoroughfare, officials said on Monday.
They traffic was halted on Sunday night due to a landslide at Panthal in the Ramban-Ramsoo sector and men and machinery were pressed into service to clear the debris, they said.
The thoroughfare, only surface link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the world, opened on Sunday afternoon to clear stranded traffic and decongest the road before the landslide occurred at Panthal.
The authorities have already announced that no fresh traffic would be allowed on the highway and only the stranded traffic shall move towards Srinagar on the strategic highway.
