People brave heavy snowfall to participate in slain LeT Commanders funeral in Pulwama, massive throng witnessed

Srinagar: Braving chilly weather and heavy snowfall thousands participated in the funeral prayers of slain District Commander of Lashkar e Taiba in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Thursday.

Irfan Ahmad Sheikh was killed in the gunbattle in chakoora area, his native area, with government forces.

According to police he had opened fire on the forces leading to a brief shootout in the area in which he was killed.

Police handed over the body of slain militant to family late Wednesday night.

People marched, amid heavy snowfall to his home in chakoora to have last glimpse of the slain.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is also being observed in Pulwama town and adjoining villages to mourn the killing of Sheikh. All  shops and other business establishment are closed while traffic in the town is also off the roads.
