A police officer told INS that bodies of both the militants have been recovered along with arms and ammunitions. The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained, the officer said. Initial identification process, he said, suggest slain to be Altaf Kachroo, who was active from more than a decade, and Omar Ganie, another local militant of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

Meanwhile massive clashes were going on in the village, about 5-kilometer from main Anantnag town.  Authorities have already snapped internet services in the district. Train services from Banihal to Srinagar has also been suspended, the officials said.
