One militant killed in Kupwara woods, Gunfight going on

Kupwara: One militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter between militants and government forces in Kandi forest area of Kupwara district on Thursday.

With killing of militant death toll in the Gunfight has reached two including the para commando who succumbed to injuries on Wednesday.

Police officials confirmed to INS that the body of militant has been recovered along with some arms and ammunition. Exchange of gunfire between the sides is going on.

“Identification is being ascertained,” sources said.

Militants and forces had a stand off on Tuesday in the woods but managed to eacape. Para commandos were rushed to the area and on Wednesday the militant group was again traced triggering off fierce gunfight.

One para commando of 3 Para was killed yesterday in the Gunfight.
