BASHARAT RASHID
Pulwama: The residents of Bagwada Mohalla Kuchmulla in South Kashmir’s Tral area expressed anger against the Power Development Department (PDD) for installing a low capacity 100-KV transformer for “68 households” instead of 250KV required for the locality.
The residents told INS that the transformer was damaged around five times in last one month alone and authorities were not installing the 250-KV transformer.
A local Shabir Ahmad told INS that the transformer develop snags every time due to which locals suffer. He said that many officials “made proposal and assured us to install a new high capacity transformer in the area but to no avail.”
The residents while showing the “feasibility documents” for the 250 KV transformer requested higher authorities to install it as early as possible.
An official told INS that the area do not have enough registered load to get high capacity transformer.
However, he said that the department has already made proposal and “sent it to higher ups”
“It is up to chief engineer, whether he approves a 250 KV transformer to them or not,” the official said.
