Mirwaiz visits injured in Police highhandedness on Friday at Jamia Masjid

Srinagar: Chief Cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday visited SMHS hospital to inquire about the injured in yesterday’s police highhandedness inside Jamia Masjid which left several injured including many receiving pellet gun injuries in eyes.

Mirwaiz inquired about the condition of the injured who were injured after police fired pellet guns inside the masjid premises from its gates and later locked gates so that injured dont get medical attention.

Later annoncements were made from public address system asking people to march towards Jamia as it was sealed by police with people inside including injured who were bleeding profusely.

Police withdrew from area.

While Mirwaiz condemned the police action, he also accused police of being the ‘irritant’.

Police however claimed that maximum restraint and minimum action was taken while dealing with stone pelting in which government forces were injured as well.
