SRINAGAR, MAY 23: Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar, today visited the Media Complex at Polo View Srinagar housing the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) to take stock of ongoing renovation and constriction there.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Information & PR, Dr Arun Manhas, Joint Director Information (Headquarters), Abdul Majid Zargar, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Abdul Hamid, Executive Engineers and other concerned.
During the visit, Akhtar was informed that the state-of-art Media Complex being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.31 crore comprises 221 seater Press Conference hall, media room, library and cafeteria. One of the unique features of the Media Complex is its green room which acts as a theatre and the space can also used as a waiting room and lounge for performers before and after a performance.
The Media Complex is fully equipped with all modern gadgets for organizing conferences, seminars with hi-tech ventilation system and is laced with hi-end projectors for screening of films and documentaries. The Media Complex has been designed to meet requirements of media professionals.
The Media Complex was a dream project of former Chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He had envisioned to use the multi-faceted complex as space for various offices of the Information Department including the Directorate, the Public Relations wing, Field Publicity wing, Cultural wing, Audiovisual wing, Research and Reference wing, Youth Information Centre, Women’s Information Centre and other related sections operating at one place.
On the occasion, the Public Works Minister went round the complex and inspected various facilities available there. He hailed the Department of Information & Public Relations for providing a state-of-the-art auditorium in the heart of the city.
He appreciated the efforts of executing agencies (R&B) and directed them to expedite the remaining work so that it can be made functional soon. He directed the officials of R&B for landscaping and beautifying the lawns of the premises.
