The operative team included by Dr Riaz Lattoo Surgical Gastroenterologist and was assisted by Mr Zubair and Mr Bilal Mr Nisar  (Anesthetist), Dr Nasir Malik and assisted by Mr Saleem under the logistic support of Hospital Administrator Dr Majid Mirab.

Anantnag: A team of doctors on Saturday conducted the first-ever successful Cancer surgery at Mirza Mohd Afzal Beige Memorial Hospital in South Kashmir area of Anantnag District.

55-year-old men name with held was admitted yesterday in Hospital and was evaluated for pain left side Abdomen. Said Medical Superintendent Dr Majeed Mirab, adding, “It was first time that our doctors conducted such type of surgery.”

He added that an ultrasound has done of patient and revealed that mass in epigastria region with possibility of GIST. The Patient was further evaluated with CECT Abdomen and Upper GI Endoscopy suggestive of malignant gastric ulcer along lesser curvature and a separate mass in lesser sac.

Biopsy from ulcer revealed adenocarcinoma. Patient was operated yesterday. Distal subtotal gastrectomy was done. Mass in lesser sac was excised. Cholecystectomy was also done for polyp gallbladder.
