The Event was organised By Department of Nephrology and Kidney transplant, Noora Hospital. Dr. Abdul Rashid Ahanger, HOD Nephrology, Noora Hospital delivered a talk on “Kidney diseases, dialysis and kidney transplantation”. The emphasis was given on the silent nature of the disease irrespective of the age and sex of the person and appearance of symptoms only when CKD is advanced at which point cure may not be possible. Thus early detection is the key and that’s only possible when we advocate  regular kidney checkups which includes simple routine urine test , KFT and ultrasonography. At least once in a year.

Also emphasis was put on avoiding self medication , over the counter medication especially pain killers which is an important cause of kidney failure. The speech was concluded by the question answer session with the participants which included CKD patients and general public pointing to the Kidney diseases and it’s impact on our life.

Dr. Qazi Mohammed Ashraf, HOD Oncology, Noora Hospital attended the event as a guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, Managing Director, Noora Hospital, said “Kidney disorders have reached alarming levels in Kashmir.
