Srinagar: United Jihad Council, an amalgam of various militant outfits, termed “attempts to dub” civilian killings due to “cross firing” in Puhnoo Shopian as shameful and high condemnable.
In an emailed statement issued here, the UJC’s secretary and Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen chief (Ameer) Sheikh Jameel-ul-Rehman blamed army for killing the unarmed civilians and termed it “cowardice act.”
“Attempts to dub the civilian killings due to cross firing is both shameful and high condemnable,” he said.
The UJC, headed by Syed Salahudin, said that the morale of Indian forces has “fallen”. “Instead of accepting defeat, India is taking revenge on innocent civilians. Indian forces are (killing) innocent civilians in custody,” Sheikh said, adding, “Indian army has scripted one of the worst examples of state terrorism in Shopian.”
The UJC paid tributes to Sohail Khalid Wagay, Mohammad Shahid Khan, Shahnawaz Ahmad Wagay, Gowhar Ahmad Lone, Amir Ahmad Malik and Ashiq Hussain.
