Accident: Four Territorial Army men killed, one grievously injured near Shatani Nala

Jammu: Four Territorial Army men were killed and one  was seriously injured in a fatal accident near Shatani Nala  on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Banihal area of Jammu division of the state on Friday.

SSP Ramban Mohan Lal told INS that the personnel were coming from Srinagar towards Jammu and the accident happened due to overspeeding.

“They were on vacation and due to over speeding they met the fatal accident. Four died on the spot and one has been referred to Srinagar for treatment,” Lal said.

Lal said that the killed men belonged to Territorial Army 162 BN and were posted in Awantipora.

Killed personnel have been identified as Pawan Kumar of village Bachyaal, Vijay Kumar, son of Rattan Lal of Gau Manasa, Omparkash of Sunetar Ramnagar Udhampur and Pawan Kumar of Akhnoor.

The injured soldier was identified as Joginder Pal of Kathua.

The incident, according to Lal, happened at around 6:30 PM
