Budgam, Nov 3: Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Monday took a dig at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during a rally in Budgam, saying that the chair on which the Chief Minister is sitting has become a source of sadness.
Addressing a public gathering on father’s martyr ceremony in Budgam, Ruhullah as per GNS said, “People who lose chairs become unhappy, but here we are throwing away a chair, and we are happy.”
Taking a direct jibe at CM Omar, the Srinagar MP said, “The chair you are sitting on is a source of sadness for both you and us.”
In an apparent reference to the Chief Minister, Ruhullah further said that Omar did not need to put his cap and dignity at the feet of others.
“He (Omar) did not need to put his cap and dignity at the feet of others. I pray to God that I never become so dependent on power that I have to throw away my cap to hold on to it,” Ruhullah said.
The remarks come amid growing differences between Aga Ruhullah and the National Conference leadership.
