Srinagar, July 13: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Sunday conducted an extensive review of the security grid in Downtown Srinagar, assessing the operational preparedness of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and allied security agencies amid heightened security arrangements in the Valley.
The review, attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar and other senior officers, focused on the prevailing security scenario, deployment strategy and the overall readiness of forces deployed across sensitive locations in the old city.
During the visit, the DGP inspected key deployment points, interacted with officers and personnel on the ground, and reviewed measures put in place to maintain law and order and respond effectively to any emerging security challenge.
Emphasising the need for constant vigilance, Prabhat directed officers to strengthen coordination among various security agencies, enhance intelligence sharing and adopt proactive measures to prevent any untoward incident.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining a people-friendly approach while performing security duties, saying effective policing must go hand in hand with public confidence and cooperation.
The review forms part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing efforts to reinforce the security architecture, ensure public safety and maintain peace and stability across the Kashmir Valley.
