Rashid claimed that while states like Bihar and Gujarat  have imposed a total ban on sale and purchase of liquor, ‘there is no justification in promoting the liquor culture in J&K.’

Rashid was addressing an annual day function at a public school at Laderwan Kupwara today.

“Majority of the population in the entire state is very much keen to see a total ban on liquor products in the valley, but allowing a liquor shop at a public place like international airport in Srinagar is unacceptable,” Rashid said.

According to Rashid , PDP and BJP needs to be ‘reminded that their law makers on more than one occasions in the past have brought bills in the Assembly seeking total ban on liquor in J&K’ and now allowing the same at a ‘place like airport proves their double standards.’

“Even the Supreme Court had last year directed authorities not to allow purchase of liquor around any national highway, as such allowing a liquor shop at Srinagar Airport has no justification,” Rashid told audience.

Rashid, demanded that State Govt. must ‘ensure that the decision is revoked.’

On the occasion Er. Rasheed  appealed teachers not to forget promoting moral education in  schools. He said although quality education is need of the hour and in order to compete with the rest of the world we need to be well equipped with modern scientific techniques but the education should not create a materialistic mindset in the masses and education should be seen as a source to serve the people, not to rule them”.

“While social media has become  a necessity, it is one of the primary duties of teachers and parents to ensure that the new generation makes a very positive and fruitful use of social media,” he said.
