Srinagar, Sept 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed noisy scenes on Monday after BJP legislators staged a protest inside the House and raised slogans targeting the government.
BJP members raised “CM Kursi Chhodo” slogans during the proceedings, triggering heated exchanges between members of the ruling and opposition benches.
The protest led to disruption in the proceedings, with BJP legislators raising objections over issues being taken up in the House and alleging that concerns raised by the opposition were not being adequately addressed.
The slogan-shouting and protests resulted in a commotion inside the Assembly, as members from both sides engaged in verbal exchanges.
The situation remained tense for some time as BJP legislators continued their protest inside the House.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather intervened and urged the protesting members to maintain decorum and allow the Assembly proceedings to continue.
The developments briefly disrupted the normal functioning of the House before efforts were made to restore order and resume the proceedings. (KNC)
