Srinagar, July 7: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, directing senior officials to ensure proper registration of pilgrims, seamless assistance on the ground and foolproof arrangements for the safe, smooth and successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by Atal Dulloo, Ashwani Kumar, Chandraker Bharti, Mandeep K. Bhandari and other senior civil and security officials.
Officials informed the Lieutenant Governor that more than 1.13 lakh devotees have so far paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine, reflecting the steady progress of this year’s pilgrimage.
Reviewing the arrangements, the Lieutenant Governor directed all departments to ensure every pilgrim is properly registered and receives timely assistance throughout the yatra. He stressed that coordinated efforts among all agencies are essential to provide world-class facilities, efficient services and a hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
“Our goal is to make this pilgrimage a truly memorable experience for every devotee by ensuring access to the best possible amenities. Safety, security and hassle-free darshan of Baba Barfani must remain our highest priority,” Sinha said.
Describing the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra as a symbol of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, the Lieutenant Governor said the annual pilgrimage showcases the country’s rich traditions and soft power before the world. He urged all stakeholders to work in close coordination to make this year’s yatra historic and set a benchmark for spiritual tourism across the country.
Sinha also appealed to pilgrims to experience the hospitality and cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir by supporting local artisans through the purchase of traditional handicrafts and indigenous products, saying it would help strengthen the local economy.
Later, the Lieutenant Governor reviewed the functioning of the 24×7 Control Room established by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board at Lok Bhavan and assessed arrangements along both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, including security deployment, langars, queue management and pilgrim welfare. He directed officials to maintain the highest standards of coordination, efficiency and safety throughout the ongoing pilgrimage.
