Srinagar, July 1: In a major relief for the hospitality sector, oil marketing companies (OMCs) have slashed the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by ₹183.50 with effect from July 1.

This is the first reduction in commercial LPG rates this year, offering respite to hotels, restaurants, caterers and small businesses battling high operating costs. The cut comes after months of successive hikes driven by elevated international fuel prices and supply concerns linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

With the revised rates now in force, commercial establishments dependent on LPG for daily operations are expected to see lower fuel expenses.

However, there is no relief for household consumers. OMCs have kept the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder unchanged, meaning families will continue to pay existing rates for cooking gas.

Oil marketing companies review LPG prices on the first of every month. While commercial LPG rates largely track international market trends, domestic LPG prices are also shaped by government policy and subsidy decisions. (GNS)
