Army Chief assumes role of Honorary Colonel of JAK Rifles Regiment

New Delhi, Jun 22: The Regiment announces with profound pride and honor that Gen Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, COAS, has graciously consented to assume the prestigious appointment of Honorary Colonel of The Jammu and Kashmir Rifles & Ladakh Scouts Regiment.

In a solemn and dignified ceremony held today, 22 June 2026, the baton of the Honorary Colonel was formally presented to the COAS by the Colonel of the Regiment, Lt Gen MP Singh, AVSM, YSM, SM, in the presence of serving General Officers of the Regiment.

The General Officer, the 30th Chief of the Army Staff, has rendered forty years of exemplary and illustrious service to the nation. His stellar career includes a distinguished and impactful tenure as the Colonel of the Regiment from 01 February 2022 to 30 June 2024.

On behalf of all ranks and families, we convey our deepest felicitations and heartiest congratulations to the General Officer. The Regiment stands singularly privileged to have his lifelong guidance and abiding stewardship, and we wish him success in all his endeavors.
