Army Chief Reviews Northern Command’s Combat Readiness, Modernization Plans

Udhampur, June 10: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Wednesday reviewed the operational preparedness, combat readiness and modernization initiatives of the Army’s Northern Command, with a focus on emerging technologies, multi-domain operations and future battlefield capabilities.

During his visit, the Army Chief interacted with officers from the Northern Command headquarters and various formation headquarters through a hybrid format and received detailed briefings on operational preparedness, capability development and technological advancements being integrated into military operations.

Officials briefed General Dwivedi on the conduct of multi-domain operations, infrastructure development, force modernization and measures aimed at ensuring integrated combat readiness across the full spectrum of operational scenarios.

Emphasizing the changing nature of warfare, the Army Chief highlighted the importance of leveraging emerging technologies and fostering innovation to enhance operational effectiveness in an increasingly complex security environment.

He stressed the need for continuous adaptation to evolving challenges through technological advancement, modernization and capability enhancement.

General Dwivedi also commended officers and personnel across all ranks for maintaining high standards of professionalism, operational efficiency and preparedness.

The review forms part of the Army’s broader effort to continuously assess operational capabilities and modernization programs across its various commands while ensuring readiness to meet emerging security challenges.

The visit follows a similar review conducted by the Army Chief at the Southern Command headquarters on May 31, where he assessed capability development initiatives, modernization efforts and the integration of advanced technologies into military operations.

Military officials said the Army continues to place increasing emphasis on technology-driven warfare, integrated operations and enhanced preparedness as part of its long-term modernization strategy. [KNT]
